This paper is mainly based on the following reasons: First,the basic element of language is vocabulary,which is the supporting part of the language system.Whether it is for the college entrance examination for students or in the regular high school English teaching process,vocabulary learning and vocabulary teaching are very important.The strength of vocabulary ability not only affects the learner's lexical resource,but also directly affects listening,speaking,reading,writing,translating and other capabilities.Second,the proportion of checking on words ascending in senior high stage through study on Regular Senior High English Course Standard(Experimental Version)(Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press,2004)and questions of National College Entrance Examination(NCEE)of very provinces,according to writer.Students are required to learn compulsory words and expressions as well as words and expressions beyond their text book.Third,in China,vocabulary is not only an obstacle for students to learn English well,but also an obstacle in the teaching process of many teachers.Faced with this topic,how to let students learn and remember in a pleasant learning process,and how to make teachers perform vocabulary teaching smoothly and efficiently have naturally become very important issues.In this paper,qualitative and quantitative research methods are adopted.In order to verify whether the word teaching method is reasonable and how to apply it in high school English vocabulary teaching,the author will carry out teaching experiments during the internship: use the new teaching method in the experimental class for vocabulary teaching and use traditional teaching methods in the control class.At the end of the experiment,the experimental assumptions put forward by the author before the experiment was proved through the collection,analysis and research of experimental data.This paper mainly discovered the following problems: First,Scaffolding theory can help improve students' vocabulary learning ability;Secondly,it is helpful for learners to improve their awareness on vocabulary and stimulate their interest in vocabulary learning;Third,it can improve the student?s attitude to the vocabulary study.Based on the teaching experimental research and theoretical research,the innovation of this paper is that the author finds out five ways to build scaffolding: by synonyms,by antonyms,by spelling,by hypernym or hyponym and by affix or root.In the end,the author has presented a teaching plan based on scaffolding vocabulary teaching method.
