As a great country with 5,000 years history,tests have always been one of the most important topics for the Chinese people.From the system of imperial examination practiced in the Sui Dynasty to the senior high school entrance examinations and college entrance examinations of the present day.However,with the development of the times,the exams are constantly evolving.As a larger scale of the selective examination,the influence of senior high school entrance examination should not be underestimated.Changchun City,as a national comprehensive experimental area has implemented the independent examination of senior high school entrance examination from 2005.In 2013,the English textbooks of junior high schools were revised.So how is the validity of the English reading comprehension test in senior high school entrance examination in Changchun after using the revised English textbook? This problem need to be researched urgently.Therefore,this study tries to examine the validity of English reading comprehension test in senior high school entrance examination from 2013 to 2017 in Changchun.The author hopes this study will provide some constructive suggestions for junior high school English reading comprehension test designers,junior high school English teachers and junior high school students.This study intends to use quantitative statistical method and comparative analysis method to do a systematically research of the English reading comprehension tests in senior high school entrance examination in Changchun from 2013 to 2017.The validity analysis of English reading comprehension test in senior high school entrance examination is explained from two parts: the face validity and the content validity.The face validity is mainly collected and analyzed in three aspects: the presentation of each material in English reading comprehension,the characteristics of the questions in each reading,and the examination questions of each examination questions.The content validity mainly depends on the conformity of the examination's content with the syllabus and the national English curriculum standards.The collection and analysis of the data is conducted in the following four aspects: the vocabulary,genre,subject matter and legibility of each material in English reading comprehension.The results show that the overall validity of English reading comprehension in senior high school entrance examination from 2013 to 2017 in Changchun is high.Among them,the face validity is not so high.Such as,the ways of presentation of discourse materials are not perfect;the coverage of discourse examinations' questions are wider;the examination questions of discourse examination questions are more concentrated.The content validity is high.Such as,the total amount of discourses' vocabulary meets the requirements of the Explanation of Changchun English Test;the genre analysis designing meets the requirements of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 Edition)and the Explanation of Changchun English Test;the subject matter of the discourses is relatively novel and extensive;the discourses are easy to be read.Finally,the author provides some useful inspirations in order to further improve junior high school English reading comprehension testing for test designers,teachers and students.The presentation of each material and test questions in English reading comprehension should be diversified and text length should be controlled within the specified range.Teachers should have good basic knowledge to guide teaching,choose and provide reading materials for different subjects and types.Students should usually read articles with different themes and genres,learn to record words,and develop good reading habits.
