Religion has existed since ancient times. As a kind of belief,it is closely related to individual ideology and values.Although the sociology does not care about the ultimate problem of the existence or not of the supernatural spirits closely related to religion,it is interested in the group of believers who are attracted and accommodated by various religious meaning systems. What is the attitude of the believers towards the existence of supernatural spirits? Why do they believe in religion? What are they pursuing in the process of religion? And what does religion satisfy them? Are different religious beliefs different? In order to explore these problems, this study takes C Township in Western Henan as an example, adopts literature method and questionnaire survey to collect data, and uses SPSS application software and comparative method to analyze the data.Through the comparative analysis of the religious beliefs of rural Buddhism and Christian believers, and analyzing the characteristics, causes and needs of religious beliefs of the rural believers, the study hopes to get a rational understanding of this group to a certain extent.Under the guidance of the theory of function and compensation, the research takes the ordinary believers who belong to the religious beliefs in the countryside as the investigation object, and takes the behavior of the religious beliefs of the believers as the object of investigation, and through combing the theoretical and empirical research on religion at home and abroad, and under the guidance of the theory of function and compensation.Cognition and attitude as the starting point to understand the various characteristics of the religious beliefs of rural believers,The comparison of Buddhism and Christian believers runs throughout the process of describing the characteristics. In the analysis, considering the influence factors of society, religion and believers, this paper analyzes and explains the consistency and difference of the religious beliefs of Buddhism and Christian believers.Furthermore,it probes into the psychological construction and function of religion to individuals as well as the reasons and needs of their religiousbeliefs, and also is committed to finding the common elements that promote Buddhism and Christian believers to produce and sustain their religious beliefs. The study shows that although there are some differences in behavior, cognition and attitude between rural Buddhism and Christian believers, their cognition and attitude about religious spiritual meaning system are common. It is commonality that makes it possible for religion to construct the individual psychology of believers. The attitude of believers towards the religious spirits includes love and respect, fear and demand, and even doubt, but under the comprehensive action of various factors, the believers still attribute themselves to a certain religious system. The concept of supernatural spirit not only guides their thoughts but also governs their behavior in the life of the believers. The existence of religious beliefs of the believers has certain rationality, and we should think rationally and guide them rationally.
