After Chinese reform and opening up and with the social transformation and economic development people’s material life has improved greatly.But people are plagued by Material centralism, Poverty inequality problem, life-death issue,all kinds of injustice such problems. Which made people unable to resisit and feel depressed.Therefore people use God’s help and began to believe in a religion, to seek the way of liberation. Religion just meets people’s mentality, spiritual comfort to regulates people behavior. Therefore it lets people do good and get rid of the plight. Buddhism is one of the three major religions in the world. With its doctrine, it not only to attract the world’s followers, and but also plays the social function.In this paper Wangqing Pumen Temple for the case of Yanbian Buddhism, combing Yanbian Buddhist history before the reform and opening up. Then illustrate the development of Buddhism after the reform and opening up.And through the Buddhist believers life of faith discuss the social function and the significance of Buddhism.The first Chapter is the prolegomenon part shows the background, research purposes and significance, research methods etc. The second chapter mainly about the Yanbian Buddhist history before the reform and opening up. Then describe the situation of the Buddhist Revival in Yanbian and the characteristics of the group of Buddhist believers After the reform and opening up. The third chapter describes the basic situation of the Wangqing Pumen Temple and it’s organizations and religious activities. In the fourth chapter,use depth interview as the method focuse on Pumen Temple followers of religious life, mainly to study why Buddhist believers believe in Buddhism?And their practice and practice significance. Through typical cases expounds the social function of Buddhism and its significance in the construction of a harmonious society.
