Vocabulary is considered to be the most important part of foreign language learning because it is both the core of language knowledge and the key to language acquisition.The College English Curriculum Require,ments(CECRs)advocates the application of modern information technology in English teaching,and makes full use of network resources.Therefore,corpus-based data-driven learning has become a trend in improving students' vocabulary learning autonomy and effectiveness.Data-driven Learning(DDL)is a foreign language learning method based on corpus concordance lines.Teachers can design some activities and exercises on the basis of the contextual co-occurrence.At the same time,they are supposed to take advantage of abundant authentic materials to motivate students' self-discovery abilities,finding grammatical rules,meaning expressions and pragmatic features.According to previous research,the potential significance of DDL needs to be further studied.This study examines college students' vocabulary learning under the guidance of DDL approach,especially to examine the depth of vocabulary knowledge in three aspects:lexical collocation,word meanings in various contexts and lexical grammar structure.This research is also to study the changes of students' vocabulary learning strategies after they accept DDL approach.In the teaching experiment,56 non-English major sophomores from two parallel classes at the same university are involved.In order to answer the research questions,such instruments as pre-test,post-test,questionnaire and interview are used to collect data.And the collected data is analyzed by SPSS 23.0 software or by coding and categorizing of the protocol.The result shows that the post-test score in EC is significantly different from the pre-test score.According to the results,DDL approach is effective in learning lexical collocation,word meanings in various contexts and the lexical grammar structure.Therefore,compared with traditional learning methods,corpus-based DDL approach has achieved remarkable results in college English vocabulary learning.The result of the second question displays that the students in EC use more self-initiation strategies,contextual guessing strategies and cooperation strategies to learn vocabulary than ever before.However,there are still some limitations so that the study also provides some teaching inspirations and suggestions for college vocabulary teaching.
