A Study On ?i?ek's Ideology Theory

As the heir of Lacan school and post-Marxist,Slavoj ?i?ek is extremely active in the academic world,and in 1989 he improved his academic prestige in the study of the field of ideology with the popularity of his first English book which is called The Sublime Object of Ideology.?i?ek 's thoughts are very complex,involving in the fields of psychoanalysis,philosophy,literature,politics,etc.The ideology theory is the most essential and influential content of many of his theories.?i?ek inherited Lacan's psychoanalytic theory,Marx's critical spirit and Hegel's dialectical thinking,and influenced by the thoughts of Derrida,Heidegger and Althusser at the same time.He combined psychoanalysis with ideology theory,and then he proposed and developed “the fantasy of ideology theory” as his own ideology criticism.According to Hegel's understanding of religion,?i?ek divided the ideology into three notions: ideology “in itself” as a conceptual complex,ideology “for itself” as an objective existence,and ideology “in-and-for itself” as an over-ideology.In his opinion,compared with the first two types of ideology,the “ideology in-and-for-itself” is a more perfect form to keep the society orderly,such as Marx's “commodity fetishism”,which is the best example of this type of ideology.?i?ek took "commodity fetishism" as the entry point of the fantasy of ideology theory,criticized traditional Marxism ideology as a kind of "false consciousness",and subverted traditional ideology as ideology,as a kind of Social existence.In ?i?ek's view,since the development of ideology,its function has been changed: it is no longer a deceptive means of obscuring the truth,but a cynicism ideology that supports social reality and fills the subject in the symbolic and symbolic circles.As a post-Marxist,?i?ek broke the theory and attitude of traditional ideology criticism,inherited Marx's critical method,and used Marxist critical spirit as a powerful weapon to strengthen radical political discourse,but at the same time,he also rejected the basic principles and logic of Marxism.In fact,he seriously misread Marx's real thoughts.This dissertation examines ?i?ek's ideology theory from the standpoint of Marxism,and comparess the differences between ?i?ek's and Marx's ideological thinking through comparative analysis.?i?ek's ideology theory is of great value to our domestic ideological theory research.?i?ek has made an innovative combination of Lacan and Marx's theory,enriching the connotation of ideology theory and helping us broaden our research field of vision of the theory of ideology.This dissertation affirms ?i?ek's theoretical contribution.However,?i?ek's ideology theory weakens the criticality of ideology theory,abandons the critical revolutionary nature of criticism,and violates the practical essence of human beings.These are contrary to the basic principles of Marxism.This dissertation points out the main limitations of his theory of ideology.
