Research On Socialist Transformation Of Jiao’ao Salt Field (1949-1956)

Since ancient times,salt has been an important material for the people’s livelihood.The Jiao’ao Salt Field is located on the southern edge of the Jiaodong Peninsula and along the coast of Jiaozhou Bay,which favorable geographical location fostered the rich resources in salt industry.During modern times,Jiaoao Salt Field adopted western style salt drying method for salt production.The output was huge,and the salt was once 60%of the salt produced in Shandong Province.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the state attached great importance to the salt industry.Just after the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the National Salt Conference was held.A series of important decisions were made on the production,sale,transportation and taxation of salt.The governing body,the General Administration of Salt,emerged as the times require.As the competent authority for the production and taxation of Jiaozhou Salt Industry,the"Jiaoao Salt Administrative Office" was set up in this context.Shortly after the founding of the People’s Republic of China,like other industries,in order to achieve rapid development and collectivization.The salt industry faced the problem of socialism transformation at the beginning of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.The main body of this paper is the socialism transformation process of Jiaoao Salt Field.The time span of the study is from 1949 to 1956.In the historical data,this paper mainly uses the document between Jiaoao Salt Administrative Office and Shandong Provincial Salt Bureau,and the report and summary of the different stages of Salt Field Reform,The Central Committee,the East China Bureau and the Shandong Provincial Committee have instructions on the social transformation of the salt industry and a large number of investigation reports and charts of the Jiaoao Salt Administrative Office.On the basis of sorting out these archives and documents,this paper intends to discuss the three parts,trying to present the country’s many ways to carry out socialism transformation of Jiaoao Salt Field:First,the situation of Jiaozhou Salt Field before the socialism transformation,Including its geographical location,historical evolution,salt field distribution,production conditions,production relations,etc.;secondly,it discusses the process of socialism transformation of wealthy salt farmers and Yongyu Salt Company,detailing Salt Field reform and public-private partnerships;thirdly,the country’s transformation for individual private salt fields,pointed out that the poor and middle class salt people should carry out mutual assistance and cooperation,and then take the path of collectivization is the road to transformation at that time.Socialist transformation is a major event in the history of the founding country of the Communist Party of China,It is not only a process of establishing an economic and political system as the party’s will,but also a process in which the CPC’s authority is constantly moving down and deepening into the hearts of the people,thus greatly changing the society structure of the salt area.The structure"liberates"individuals from the family and becomes"collectives".In the conclusion,this paper believes that the state’s socialism transformation of Jiaoao Salt Field is a systematic project.In this process,the state uses organization and propaganda as means to start from Salt Field Reform,public-private partnership and mutual assistance and cooperation,launching Social Mobilization in a big way.The grassroots society was mobilized to promote the formation of new relations between the state and the salt people,thus bringing the salt industry into a new historical period.
