In 1993,ChenZhongshi's novel,which called “White Deer Plain”,has being in great demand on the market and deeply loved by readers after it was published,moreover,the novel won the Fourth Chinese Mao Dun prize for Literature in 1997.It represents the highest achievement in the field of art of fiction in that period.As a classic literary work,“White Deer Plain” set off a creative trend of "reflective literature” in the 1980 s,which successfully reflected the characteristics of the times.Since the publication of “White Deer Plain”,with the continuous change of the mainstream values of society,a number of creators have always maintained a high degree of enthusiasm and combined with the cultural context of their own times.It has been adapted into various forms and styles of art works such as modern Qinqiang Opera,comic books,drama,film,TV dram and other versions,each adaptation of “White Deer Plain” carries the specific spiritual and cultural requirements in different times.The article selects the 1993 edition of the novel,the 2012 edition of the film and the2017 edition of TV drama as the object of research respectively,examines the differences among the texts from the cultural context of their production,explores the artistic value charm of literary works adaption through the multi-directional and multi-angle comparisons.This article is divided into five chapters,as follows:In the first chapter,the author sorts out the text of “White Deer Plain” and other derivative texts in order to summarizes the background and practical significance of different texts.Also detailedly explains the purpose and method of cross-text research on “White Deer Plain” novel,movie and TV drama.In the second chapter,the author makes a comparative analysis of the different versions of “White Deer Plain” based on the subjects.The expression of subject of “White Deer Plain”has changed from novel to film to TV drama.The novel expresses the author's root-searching thinking and propagates the profound value of Chinese traditional culture;The film simplifies the grand theme of the novel and focuses on the impaction of audience's soul,which causedby the farmers' original ecology of the the living conditions in the north;as for TV drama,it shows the confrontation for human nature between darkness and brilliance due to the variety sufferings in the flood of history.In different cultural backgrounds,the author's understanding and interpretation of the spirit of white deer are different,the expression of different subjects is also influenced by the changes of its artistic form as well as historical and cultural context.In the third chapter,the author starts with the characters from different person,investigates the unique features of character shaping in various versions of “White Deer Plain”.As the results of different capacity for different texts,the great differences in the characterization have also been shown.The author compares the individualized inheritance and innovation of the three main characters,BaiJiaxuan,LuZilin and TianXiaoe,between the characterization in the adapted text and the prototype of the characters in the novel,and explores the causes of their changes and the cultural value of the adaptation.In the fourth and fifth chapters,the author explores the law of evolution between the different texts of “White Deer Plain” from the perspectives of narrative strategies and rhetorical devices.In the fourth chapter,from the perspective of narrative strategy,the author analyzes the artistic characteristics of different texts in detail from two aspects: narrative plot and narrative rhythm.In the fifth chapter,with the help of the relevant theoretical knowledge of rhetoric,it discusses the rhetorical transformation from introverted to direct as well as the artistic law behind the texts.To sum up.Based on the cross-text research of “White Deer Plain”,it researches the different characteristics from various aspects such as subjects,characters,narrative strategies and rhetorical devices.Meanwhile,it has important guiding rule in the construction of the current mainstream core values from the researches of “White Deer Plain” and its derivative texts,which including the exploration of the cultural and artistic values behind them.
