A Study On The Application Of Mt And Pe Model In The Jews In Shanghai Translation Project Limitations And Solutions

Nowadays,more and more translators are using machine translation because they consider it more effective tool.But it was also proved that machine translation does not work as perfect as we expect.The machine translated text needs further post-editing.This thesis discusses the application of MT and PE model in the “Jews in Shanghai” translation project,an Chinese-English translation project completed by a trainee translator team from Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation,Shanghai International Studies University.This thesis summarizes the problems of MT rendering from four perspectives: terminology,sentence,logic,and consistency,and provides their corresponding post-editing solutions.Through analyzing the MT limitations and offering PE solutions,this thesis aims to suggest improvements to the“MT+PE”model,and offer some useful solutions for similar translation project,and for future“MT+PE” model studies.
