Polish-american pianist Mieczyslaw Horszowaski was a renowned pianist,chamber musician and piano educator in the 20 th century.Since childhood,Horszowaski has been active in the stage as a talented performer,and has performed in many European countries,north and South America and other places.In addition to his many solo concerts,he often collaborated with other musicians and performed in chamber music.He settled in the United States in 1940 and taught at the Curtis music institute.His students include Murray Perahia,winner of the Lizzie international piano competition,and Peter Serkin,winner of the grammy for best neoclassical art.Clear and transparent timbre,delicate and beautiful melodic lines are Horszowaski's unique performance characteristics.This paper will give a comprehensive overview of the pianist Horszowaski through three aspects: his career,his performance style and his teaching achievements.
