English reading is an important part of learning English and it takes a vital role in English teaching in senior high schools.English reading classroom activities are not only an important carrier of reading teaching,but also an effective means to achieve teaching objectives.The design and implementation of reading classroom activities play a key role in the improvement of reading teaching effectiveness and the realization of teaching objectives.Therefore,it is very necessary to design reading classroom activities elaborately which are diverse,lively and closely related to students' lives.However,there are still some problems in the design and implementation of English reading classroom activities in senior high schools.For example,many English teachers lack the awareness of reading activity design,which leads to students' weak reading ability and fails to meet the requirements of the English curriculum standard.Therefore,how to ensure the effective implementation of reading classroom activities is a key issue for teachers.The basic idea of Eco-classroom is to organize classroom activities using a holistic,developing and living teaching view,focusing on the healthy development and happy growth of students,and respecting students' principal positions.The multi-level interaction between teachers and students should be strengthened,so that the teaching content,teachers and students and classroom environment can coexist harmoniously and achieve a new dynamic balance.And through various practical activities,students' interest in English learning can be stimulated and their learning methods are improved so that it enhances their integrating skills and lays a foundation for their lifelong learning.Under the guidance of constructivist learning theory and humanism learning theory,this study focuses on the following three issues:1)What is the present situation of the design and implementation of English reading classroom activities in senior high schools?2)Does the English reading classroom activities which are based on Eco-classroom more effective?3)What are the implications of Eco-classroom reading activity model for teaching of English reading?In this study,48 students of Class 2,Grade 2 of Tianshui No.1 Senior High School are taken as research subjects.The practical effectiveness of applying the concept of Eco-classroom to senior high school English reading classroom activities are studied by the method of classroom observation,interview and questionnaire as well as one semester's teaching practice.The results of the study find that: English reading classroom activities based on Eco-classroom can stimulate students' interest in learning,mobilize students' learning enthusiasm,and promote the exchange and cooperation between teachers and students,thus improving classroom teaching effectiveness.At the same time,The study shows that English teachers should renew their teaching concepts and set clear and specific teaching objectives for reading;English teachers should optimize instructional designs and design diversified reading classroom activities;English teachers should reshape their roles and establish an equal and open relationship between teachers and students;English teachers should improve their teaching methods and return the classroom to students;English teachers should convert their evaluation methods and construct ecological classroom evaluation.
