The Houhanshu written by Fan Ye during the YuanJia period of song in the Southern Dynasty,which recorded the history of the Eastern Han Dynasty in detail.it is highly respected as one of the First Four History Books with Shiji,Hanshu and Sanguozhi on account of its narrative is well-executed,ode luxuriant and beautiful,style innovation.Liu Zhao has collected multiple versions and proofread the similarities and differences during the period of-Tang in the Southern Dynasty,He put eight chapters of the Xuhanshu written by SiMabiao into the Houhanshu written by Fain Ye in order to supplement and annotate it.In the Tang Dynasty,Li Xian as the crown prince,after his death he was known as Zhang Huai,who called in many learned scholars to annotate the Houhanshu written by Fan Ye.Since then,The Houhanshu has been able to circulate in its entirety.In surviving academic writings,The Houhanshu Variorum is most representative because of it was published for the rich collections of-previous research achievements,which assembles the chaaracteristics of valuable research works.The Houhanshu Variorum is respected by scholars for it added a lot of historical data and corrected many errors.It became a must-have book as it promoted the study of Eastern Han history.But we haven't studied the book enough,so we need more research about the book.This thesis takes the variorum version and the version of WangShubian in the Southern Song Dynasty(collected in National Library of China)as standard to revise generally.At the same time,it takes the non-first collation A version in the Northern Song Dynasty(collected in National Library of China,one with a part missing,hereinafter referred to as "A version"),the non-first collation B version in the Northern Song Dynasty(collected in National Library of China,missing the chapter 2-5,hereinafter referred to as'"B version"),the non-first revised by the Transport Department of Jiangnan Dong Lu,Shaoxing,Song Dynasty(collected in National Library of China,hereinafter referred to as“Shaoxing version"),the block-printed version revised by BaLiuzhou Academy in the Northern Song Dynasty(collected inNational Library of China,the chapter 1-1 missed,hereinafter referred to as'"Academy version,"),the version of Huang Shanfu in the Southern Song Dynasty(collected in Peking University Library,hereinafter referred to as"Huang Shanfu versiorn"),the version of RenShou period of Song Dynasty(collected in Taiwan Library,hereinafter referred to as;"RenShou version"),as materials to collate with each other.Then,it takes the points collation version published by Zhonghuashuju's Company(hereinafter referred to as;"Revised Edition version")as references.This article divides the notes of collation into five categories that Variorum is better than Wang Shubian Version,Wang Shubian Version is better than Variorum,both have mistakes and both are correct.The first two part includes four aspects which are errors,missing,extra words or disorder in text.By comparing Variorum and Wang Shubian Version,Be able to both correct errors and supplement Variorum.Due to the limited ability,this thesis only test the content of emperor-empress's record and biography only.
