The Study On Harmony Technique Of Chen Yi's Four Piano Works

Yi Chen(1953-),a Chinese-American composer,is one of the most influential composers in contemporary China.Her musical works are often staged in art festivals and concerts around the world.Meanwhile she has won many awards at home and abroad,and has been highly recognized and praised by the world's music industry,and has become one of the focal points of the world music scene.The use of Chinese folk music material in the creation is the creative feature of Yi Chen's creation.And this feature is also one of the remarkable styles of Yi Chen created.This article selects four piano works created by Yi Chen in different periods: "Ava Riguri Variations"(1978),"Yu Tun"(1984),"Eight Board"(1999),and "Ji Dong Nuo"(2005)as the research object,starts with the use of Chinese folk music materials from four works,and then analyzes the level of harmony techniques to explore the composer's personalized harmony language.Starting from the use of Chinese folk music materials in these four works,and then analyzing from the level of harmony technology,we finally explore the composer's personalized harmony language.This article is roughly divided into four parts:?.Analyze the rhythm of Chinese folk music and the rhythm beats of the four works,so as to explore the national characteristics of the four works,and on the other hand,grasp the overall work of the four works;?.This paper analyzes the tonality of the four pieces,and analyzes the characteristics of the tonality of the four pieces from the aspects of uygur folk tonality,pentatonic tonality,compound tonality,tonality superposition,diatonic scale and twelve-tone sequence;?.This paper analyzes the chord structure of four works,and probes into the national characteristics of chord structure from three aspects: the third degree structure(including the third superposed chord and the added chord),the second degree structure,the fourth degree structure and the fifth degree structure(including the fourth superposed chord,the fifth superposed chord and the empty fifth chord);?.Analyze the harmony of the four works.The individualized harmony of the four piano works was studied in three aspects: functional,parallel,and continuous;The conclusion part will summarize the individualized harmony techniques of the four piano works,in order to further explore the composer's creative concept.
