Laozi,the founder of Taoism in the pre-Qin period,constructed a philosophical system with "Tao" as its core.However,he did not have a clear definition of Tao's form.Laozi talked about "water" many times,in fact,it is through the analysis of the connotation of "water" to give "Tao" a more specific meaning,so that "Tao" has a more clear meaning and characteristics to a certain extent.The source of Laozi's philosophy of "water" mainly comes from the sacrifice of"water god" in primitive period and the great use of "water" in farming period.This is the application of water reality.As for the philosophical implication of "water",Laozi associates "the quality of water","the shape of water" and "the nature of water" with the intangible image of "Tao",with the characteristics of flexibility,rigidity and simplicity,so as to highlight the similarities between "Tao" and "water",thus water has metaphysical significance.In Laozi's "water" philosophy,besides a profound analysis of the relationship between "Tao" and "water",life and political issues are also discussed.Firstly,from the perspective of life,the weak and modest characteristics of "water" are taken as the living criterion for people to stand in the world,and then the good quality of "water"is integrated into the world,so as not to dispute.The state of mind,willing to go under,in order to benefit all things.Secondly,from the political point of view,the most prominent point in Laozi's philosophy of "water" is the political strategy of "weakness prevails over strength".With "water" as the most flexible and tenacious,Laozi highlights his important point of view of "inaction".At the same time,on the basis of his outlook on life,he puts forward a series of persuasions to the ruling party.Finally,the spiritual realm of Lao Tzu's philosophy of "water" is mainly to "clear away the mystery" to achieve a common state of the individual,and to ensure the clarity of the mind by cleaning up the mood from time to time,so as to achieve"self-knowledge and self-clarity".After that,Lao Tzu stood in the world with a humble attitude and clear mood to realize the "Tao" of carrying heaven and being in harmony with the mystery world.
