Susanne.K.Langer inherited Ernst Cassier's semeiology that art is a symbol created and used by human.She proposed the theory of “semiotics aesthetic” and became the most influential symbolism aesthetes in the mid-20 th century in the United States.By the 1980 s,“reform and opening up” in-depth,Western modern literary and artistic thought and scientific theory gradually been translated and published in China.In the field of Chinese aesthetics,a large number of research articles on the theme of “form”,“symbol”,“the relationship between content and form ”be brought up.Susanne.K.Langer's “semiotics aesthetic” have been widely adopted and discussed in these articles.This paper is based on the acceptance history of the Western formalism theory in China,trying to explain and interpret Susanne.K.Langer's “semiotics aesthetic”,combined with the Chinese aesthetic theory works and art research and comment on the views of the article since the 1980 s to analyze,explore Susanne.K.Langer's “semiotics aesthetic” theory in the way to influence the Chinese aesthetic research.The article is divided into five parts: the first part,stating the reasons for the topic,the significance of the study,the status quo of the study and the methods of the study.The second to the fourth part is the text,discusses the acceptance history of the Western formalism theory in China;Susanne.K.Langer's semiotics aesthetic theory;the influence of Susanne.K.Langer's aesthetic theory on Chinese aesthetic research since the 1980 s.The conclusion of this paper is based on the summary of the text,and summarizes the representation of Susanne.K.Langer's aesthetic theory in the study of Chinese aesthetic theory since the 1980 s,to illustrate the position and function of Langer's semiotics aesthetic theory in the construction of Chinese aesthetic theory.
