The Study On The Contemporary Handicraft Arts Of Fengxiang

With its various forms,rich contents and gorgeous colors,the traditionally folk arts in Fengxiang(a county of Shaanxi,China)not only have a reputation in Shaanxi,but also have impacts on the whole country and even abroad.Among them,painted clay sculptures,wooden engraving painting,paper-cut art and other folk handicraft arts appeal greatly to the local people and foreign friends.It is rich in contents and reflects the local national customs,beliefs and aesthetic concepts,and loved and accepted extensively by the working people.In addition,Fengxiang's handicraft is not only the accumulation of history,but also the reflection of the eras.Whether in the past or today,it has exerted an immeasurable influence upon the lives of the local people.Although they are handicrafts,they expressed people's joys and sorrows,shouldered the responsibilities to the people's education,as well as the local people's aesthetic interest.In this paper,researches on the Fengxiang's handicraft is placed in its unique geographical environment,and folk cultural and historical framework.During the whole research process,a large number of books,newspapers,periodicals and papers related to Fengxiang's handicraft,as well as relevant literary and historical materials related to its history and folk life and culture,were collected by the author.Then,the pictures and words obtained from the field investigation in Liuying Village,Nanand Bei Xiaoli Village and Liulin Town of Fengxiang County are arranged and summarized,and coupled with this,Fengxiang's handicraft was extensively introduced in various ways.The authoranalyses of Fengxiang's painted clay sculpture,wooden engraving painting,and paper-cut art in various aspects,such as regional cultural environment,artistic characteristics,customs,historical inheritance and innovation,production process and so on,in order to deeply study the folk aesthetic characteristics and social value of Fengxiang's handicraft.
