The Study On Fengxiang Painted Clay Sculpture

As an important manifestation of Fengxiang(a county in Shaanxi Province)folk art,FengXiang painted clay sculptures have a strong local flavor.The subjects of the creation originate from locals ' daily life with the rich folk cultured combined,reflecting the local folk activities and people's spiritual pursuit.They are characterized by the features as follows: unique styles,exaggerated designs,complex patterns and bright colors.With the above-mentioned eye-catching characteristics,painted clay sculptures function as ideal decorations.In particular,"clay tiger" is an exaggerated artistic work,created with the focus on the characteristics of the object and the deletion of the complexity,which makes the mud tiger look vibrant,charming and lovely.In short,with the unique artistic language,simple means of expression,multiple modeling features,special pattern performance,gorgeous colors and the public's esthetic,Fengxiang painted clay sculptures has a high aesthetic research value.This research on Fengxiang painted clay sculptures will be conducted in the following aspects,involving the local environment,the history,the folk culture.In the process of research,a wide range of theoretical monographs,periodicals as well as literatures on Fengxiang's history and folk culture related to Fengxiang clay sculptures are collected,the information obtained and pictures taken from Liuying village in Fengxiang County.Later,on the basis of the information collected,a variety of research methods are used to conduct the research on Fengxiang painted clay sculptures.After the systematic analysis is made from the following aspects such as the regional cultural environment,historical inheritance,the classification and the producing methods as well,the preliminary understanding and insights of Fengxiang painted clay sculptures will be obtained and the expression characteristics will be clarified.On the over-mentioned analysis,the theoretical basis is provided with the follow-up comprehensive and in-depth study on the modeling,patterns,colors and other artistic characteristics of Fengxiang painted clay sculpture,in order to explore the social culture and folklore aesthetic characteristics in Fengxiang behind the artistic expression.And then the aesthetic value of the clay sculpture representative works----clay sculpture tiger in Fengxiang is elaborated,which is helpful for the exploration and study of other painted clay sculpture works in Fengxiang.Finally,in accordance with the preliminary investigation of the recent development of painted clay sculpture in Fengxiang,an objective analysis on the development environment of the local clay industry is made to find out the strengths and weak points of the development of Fengxiang clay industry and give reasonable suggestions for its protection,inheritance and the development as well.On the basis of predecessors' researches,this paper makes a in-depth and systematic exploration of the artistic characteristics of Fengxiang painted clay sculpture,which not only is of help to the author with the artistic creation and design,but alsoprovide references for those in the field of art.In short,the study of this paper can achieve the purpose of spreading the traditional culture and folk art and seek a sustainable way to develop Fengxiang painted clay sculpture.
