A Discussion On The Experimental Medium Of Animation In Contemporary Art

This paper focuses on the medium of animation in the context of contemporary art.The article attempts to glimpse the complex picture of contemporary art through the analysis of the animated medium.The most typical characteristic of contemporary art is the emergence of diversified media forms.Among them,animation has gradually gained recognition from the art world as an ideographic medium,and more and more artists choose it to create art.In a large amount of research,animations are often placed under the framework of new media art.This perspective shield the differences between different new media,and it does not help us explore the current animated media,and it does not benefit us to understand the complex contemporary art.Therefore,this paper focuses on the medium of animation.By combing and analyzing related works to examine the function and status of animation in contemporary art creation,I want to examine the unique media characteristics of animation.The second part of the article focuses on the representation strategies of animated media.The research suggests that there are mainly two methods:"appropriation"and"anti-narrative"."Anti-narrative"has created a distinction between"commercial animation"and pure art animation within the animation.At the same time,"anti-narrative"actually shows the break with the experience of daily life,it brings the viewer's"shocked"experience."shocked"mainly manifests as a kind of discomfort and anxiety;"appropriation"is the expression of the concept through the reconstruction of the meaning,which is the deconstruction of the originality of modernist art.At the end of the paper,the extension of the animation boundary is discussed.On the one hand,the expansion of the animation boundary is from the virtual content to the real content.Here,the animation documentary is examined.On the other hand,the expansion of the space is examined.Animated installation art and VR animation are discussed.In this paper,the research on animation media is placed in a broader social and cultural background.I hope to explore the complex connection between contemporary art and society and culture.Contemporary art not only inherits certain traditions from the previous art,but also exhibits its own unique innovation.
