On Dai Xuanzhi's Historiography

Dai Xuanzhi(1922 / 1990),a famous scholar who studied the modern social history of China in the 20 th century,was also an expert in the early study of secret social history in China.As the first generation of Xiao Yishan in the field of secret social history,It represents the highest level of the study of secret social history by Taiwanese scholars in the 20 th century.In his early years,he began with the study of the Boxer Troupe,and then gradually turned to and devoted himself to the study and treatment of the secret social history of China all his life.Many achievements in this field benefited from the cultivation of Lu Maode,Xiao Yishan and other teachers during his studies at Northwestern Union University.Lay a solid foundation for historiography.Dai Xuanzhi's achievements in historiography are mainly divided into three aspects according to the order in which he studies and governs historiography: first,the history of the Boxer League,from the origin,essence,spread,exclusion of the Boxer League,to the emergence of the war,mutual protection in the southeast,and the invasion of China by the coalition forces of the eight powers,and reached a collegial discussion.Under the careful textual research,this paper makes a systematic and comprehensive study of the Boxer regiment,trying to defend it and present a more objective Boxer regiment to the world.Second,the secret social history of China,this aspect is the focus of Dai Xuanzhi's historiography research.He divided the history of Chinese secret society into the history of Chinese secret religion and the social history of Chinese secret society.He explored its origin,essence,organizational evolution and so on.For the secret social history of China to weave a complex and clear context of the network;Third,with regard to the study of the social and economic history of China,Dai Xuanzhi paid attention to the study of the life of the lower class,revealing the decadent decline of feudal rule in the late Qing Dynasty and the serious differentiation between the rich and the poor in society.The academic achievement of Dai-hyun's life is closely related to his unique academic style.On the basis of its academic style and contribution,the evaluation of the status of Dai's history should include two parts: on the one hand,Dai-hyun's position in the field of modern history is laid on the basis of the group-based research,and on the other hand,in the case of the Chinese secret social history,As the first-generation of Xiao Yishan in the field of secret social history,based on itsoutstanding contribution in this field,it is supposed to be a pioneer in the study of the secret society as an academic.
