Hebrew University And Israeli State Building

The destiny of Hebrew University has been closely linked to the building of Israel since it was found in 1925.Owing to the support of the Jews and the state,Hebrew University has not only become a world-renowned institution of higher learning,but also gives back to the Israeli nation abundant spiritual and intellectual wealth.Hebrew University and the process of Israeli state building can be regarded as a practice between higher education and modern state building and which took place in the land of Israel.Focusing on the theme of the Hebrew University and the building of the Israel,taking the history of the Hebrew University as a clue,this thesis analyzes the role of Hebrew University in building Israeli State.It also summarizes the problems and challenges in the development of Hebrews University.The text is divided into five parts.The first part aims to talk about that the idea of Zionism gave birth to Hebrew University.The second part introduces the situation of Hebrew University after the establishment of Israel.The third part analyzes the role of university in the integration of Israeli national culture.The fourth part analyzes the contribution of university to building the innovative country.The fifth part discusses the problems and solutions of university governance in the process of national building.The participation and the role of Hebrew University played in Israeli state building can be summarized into three aspects: Firstly,the idea and practice of Zionism provided conditions for the birth of Hebrew University,and the emergence of the state also provided material basis and spiritual guidance for Hebrew University.Holding the political belief and mission which the Zionists needed to establish the state,Hebrew University has met the demands of Israel for culture and science in this era and become a major driving force for the progress of the nation and society.Secondly,Hebrew University has played its value role in the formation and development of Israel and fulfilled its historical mission and responsibility.Hebrew University not only promoted the revival of Hebrew language in university and Israeli society,but also cultivated outstanding scholars in various fields and built a platform between Israeli and Arab students to help them communicate and interact.In recent years,Hebrew University has played an inconvenient role in building Israel into an innovative country by focusing on cultivating students' awareness of innovation,improving researchers' system including research and development,transformation and production and establishing an integrated structure of industry-university-research with the government and enterprises.Thirdly,the conflicts and adaptation between Hebrew University and Israel are the expression of the struggle and attempt of Hebrew University on the road of academic autonomy,and also the inevitable outcome of the adaptation of academic ideal and national ideal.Hebrew University struggled and tried on the road of academic autonomy during the time when Israel was just found,and it was also the key period for the running-in of academic ideals and national ideas.After the continuous adjustment of the Hebrews University and the stronger of Israel,they both finally found the border between academic freedom and serving country.
