For a long time, contrary to the study of female images, the study of male images in film and television dramas is not very good in quantity and quality. In recent years, the Chinese film and television market has been hot,and the male image has been constantly updated to meet the needs of female audiences. At this point, the emergence of new images and the changes in aesthetics have made great progress in men's studies in film and television dramas.Based on Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, this thesis takes the brand-new image of "Bromeo" in the urban drama of the mainland as the research object, fully combining the relevant theories of gender, consumerism and post-modern,and dig deep into it in the context of social history. In order to grasp the historical and cultural motives of the birth and development of "Bromeo",and reveal the cultural code behind them. The dissertation includes three parts: introduction, body and conclusion. The main body is divided into three chapters. The introduction part summarizes the significance and theoretical background of the research, and focuses on the concept of "Bromeo",delineating the exact scope of the research object, and clarifying the ideas of the paper. The first chapter makes a longitudinal analysis of the development trajectory of the male image of the mainland urban drama from the perspective of diachronicity, pointing out that the male image is transformed from a "masculine man" to an "intimate little man",which leads to the discussion of the object "Bromeo" in this article. Then from the perspective of synchronicity, compare the image of "Bromeo" with the "warm man" and "overbearing president" of the same period, point out their similarities and differences, and get the special features of "Bromeo",and prepare for further discussion below. The second chapter analyzes the image of "Bromeo" from the perspective of semiotics, and explores the cultural connotation behind this nonverbal symbol system. On the basis of the previous article, the third chapter puts the image of "Bromeo" into the context of the society, and then, analyzes its significance in contemporary culture by gender relations and consumerism. The conclusion part points out that the image of "Bromeo" is still a kind of deification to men and an intensification of patriarchy.Emphasize that the male image in the urban drama should get rid of the situation of being a spokesperson for male hegemony and realize its reform and renewal in the true sense.
