| With the advancement of basic education reform,the senior high school English curriculum standards have put forward higher requirements for the professional qualities and teaching methods of senior high school English teachers.Teachers’ explicit teaching methods and teaching behaviors are influenced by their implicit theories.The teaching beliefs guide the teachers’ classroom teaching practice and directly affect the teachers’ teaching effects.Senior high school English teachers can only meet the challenges brought by the new curriculum reform by updating their teaching beliefs to ensure that the senior high school English curriculum standards are implemented.Therefore,the research on senior high school English teachers’ teaching beliefs can not only help teachers adjust their teaching behavior,but also further enrich the teacher’s implicit theory.This research assumes that English teachers’ teaching beliefs refer to the value judgment and selection of English courses,teachers’ and students’ roles,English teaching,students’ English learning,classroom management and evaluation.Based on teacher’s implicit theories,teachers’ role theory,and Feuerstein’ s theory of mediation,this thesis studies the teaching beliefs of current senior high school English teachers through classroom observation,interviews,and questionnaires,this paper mainly analyzes the six dimensions of English curriculum belief,teachers’ and students’ roles belief,English teaching belief,students’ English learning belief,classroom management belief and evaluation belief.This research enriches the connotation of teachers’ teaching beliefs,and incorporates pragmatic and cultural belief into teachers’ teaching beliefs.The pragmatic belief deeply analyzes from the three pragmatic perspectives of context,discourse and speech act.The cultural belief deeply analyzes from cultural structure and definition,the relationship between language and culture.Through the research,the author finds that the factors that affect senior high school English teachers’ teaching beliefs include the following aspects: teachers’ education experience,teachers’ training situation after employed,teachers’ age and teaching time,teachers’ self-reflection and evaluation,students’ learning situation.The problems of teachers’ teaching belief are mainly reflected in the four aspects of curriculum belief,pragmatic belief,cultural belief,and emotional belief.Finally,the author puts forward corresponding suggestions for senior high school English teachers to establish scientific and reasonable teaching belief.It aims to better promote senior high school English teaching. |
