| With the rapid development of technology and economy,China has attached more attention to culture prosperity and culture exportation in recent years.And the dissemination of master's theses on Chinese language and literature has become an important way of culture exportation.Abstract is the essence of the whole paper,which not only relates to the quality but also directly affects the dissemination.In the light of adaptation theory of Verschueren and on the basis of 50 random samples selected from 2015 to 2017 abstracts of master's theses on Chinese language and literature in China Master's Theses Full-text Database,this thesis analyzes their translations.Firstly,the thesis presents the writing characteristics and requirements of s of master's theses on Chinese language and literature.Secondly,it analyzes the translations from the perspective of adaptation theory in lexical,syntactic and textual aspects by giving specific examples.Besides,this thesis does corrections for those against adaptation theory.And it puts forward some suggestions and strategies as to how to improve abstract translation,which include choosing words correctly,omitting words,using abbreviations with explanations,adding subjects or translating non-subject sentences into passive sentences,splitting long sentences or using clauses,translating in accordance with cohesion,etc.Finally,it concludes that abstract translations under the guidance of adaptation theory conform to English pragmatic principles,which make English abstracts coherent,concise and clear. |
