Personal Growth Initiative(PGI)refers to the individual actively in the process of growing up to make a purposeful change,to realize the consciousness of individual growth and psychological tendency,as a relatively new concept in the field of positive psychology,although has some domestic and foreign researchers focused on this.It is rare that the study about the influence of personal growth initiative for academic procrastination.Through the literature found that personal growth initiative and closely related to academic procrastination.With college students as subjects,questionnaires are the main methods in this study to explore the influence personal,growth initiative on academic procrastination.Furthermore,the research introduced self-worth as mediator variable to analyses the internal mechanism behind this influence.First of all,we used Personal Growth Initiative Scale-II,Self-worth Scale and The Aitken Procrastination Inventory for College Students to investigate the characteristics of college students' personal growth initiative,self-worth and academic procrastination of 577 college students and analysis the differences of these three variables in some demographic variables respectively.Next,we analyzes the relationships among personal growth initiative,self-worth and academic procrastination and their prediction to each other.In the end,we explore whether the self-worth plays an intermediate role between personal growth initiative and procrastination.Research conclusions are as follows:(1)For college students in this study,the personal growth initiative level of the college students above the average level;Most college students have a high sense of self-worth;Academic procrastination phenomena is not very serious on college students.(2)There are grade difference on personal growth initiative and academic procrastination;The academic procrastination and planning shows significant difference on majors;The use of resource shows significant difference on gender.(3)Personal growth initiative has significant positive correlation with self-worth;Personal growth initiative is positively correlated with negative academic procrastination;self-worth is also correlated with negative academic procrastination;(4)Proactive behavior and self-worth can positively predict self-worth and negatively predict positive academic procrastination.Proactive behavior and planning can positively predict self-worth.(5)Self-worth plays a role of being a partial mediator between personal growth initiative and academic procrastination;self-worth plays a role of being a complete mediator between active behavior,be prepared for change and academic procrastination;self-worth being a complete mediator between the rest of the two kinds of personal growth initiative.
