The eye-tracking and indirect test methods were used to explore the seductive details effects and the psychological mechanism of multimedia learning.Experiment 1 is an exploratory study to examine the influence of seductive details on college students'multimedia learning.On the basis of experiment 1,experiment 2 further explores the influence of inhibition control and seductive details on multimedia learning.In experiment 3,we use eye tracking.The combination of technology and eye tracking reports examines the mechanisms behind the seductive details effects of multimedia learning.The results showed that:(1)The retention and migration performance of the non-seductive details group is significantly better than that of the seductive details group.That is,there is a"“seductive details effect”in multimedia learning.(2)There is no significant difference in the retention and migration performance of the high inhibition control group with or without seductive details.The low inhibition control group and the retention performance and migration performance on the non-seductive details are significantly better than the seductive ones,details.That is,the tempting details effect is mainly limited to low inhibitory controllers.(3)The high inhibitory control group had significantly less gazing times,number of fixations on the seductive details,and saccades between text and cognitive maps than the low inhibitory control group.That is to say,the seductive details interferes with the multimedia learning effect of college students,and the main reasons for the seductive details effect are the consistency interruption and schema disturbance.
