With the increasing development and popularization of multimedia information interaction technology,its application in classroom teaching is also favored by the majority of educators.In order to improve the fun of multimedia teaching,educators will add interesting illustrations or texts in the text box that are not related to learning,which the researchers call "seductive details".However,the impact(positive or negative)of the effects of seductive details on the effectiveness of multimedia learning is inconclusive.The former holds that adding interesting seductive details can capture learners' attention to learning content,stimulate curiosity,and thus promote learning results.The latter believes that rich and interesting seductive details divert learners' attention from learning content,thus putting more attention into seductive details,which in turn can undermine learning outcomes.The emergence of seductive details that hinder individual academic achievement is known as the "seductive details effect".Most of the previous studies on the seductive details effects of multimedia learning have focused on changing the properties of seductive details(eg.presentation,tagging),ignoring whether learners have cognitive processing of details.Based on previous studies,we have found that the factors influencing the effectiveness of multimedia learning depend not only on external factors(for example,seductive details),but also on learners' internal factors(eg.working memory,cognitive style,and temperament type,etc.).Among them,the effect of working memory span and cognitive style on the effect of multimedia learning is particularly critical.In order to make clear whether the effect of seductive details is regulated by individual factors,and in order to enable learners to obtain the best learning results,this study introduces the internal factors of working memory span and cognitive style into the research field of the seductive details effect of multimedia learning.Therefore,this study will explore the influence of learners' individual factors(working memory span,cognitive style)on the seductive details effect of multimedia learning through two experiments,using indirect test method and eye tracking technique.The research is divided into two parts: the first part is experimental one,which contains two sub-experiments,the experiment 1a examines and tries to verify whether thelearner's working memory span and seductive details will have an impact on multimedia learning;On the basis of 1a experiment,the experimental 1b uses the method of eye tracking technology combined with eye movement trajectory report to investigate the seductive details effect from the perspective of working memory span.The first part is experimental two,which contains two sub-experiments,the experiment 2a further explores the influence of the interaction between learners' cognitive style and seductive details on multimedia learning.Experimental 2b,on the basis of 2a experiment,uses the method of eye tracking technology combined with eye movement trajectory report to investigate the seductive details effect from the perspective of cognitive style,and further clarify the causes of the seductive details effect.The following conclusions were drawn through two experiments:(1)The learner's internal factors have a regulating effect on the direction of the effect of the seductive details on the role of multimedia learning.This shows that the role played by individual factors in it,that is,individual factors in the understanding of multimedia learning is very important.(2)For low working memory span groups,seductive details have a negative impact on the application of the memory and understanding of learning content.For the high working memory span group,For high working memory breadth group,it can effectively avoid the distraction caused by seductive details.(3)Field independent type can inhibit the interference caused by seductive details,field dependent type is more susceptible to the interference of seductive details,thus affecting the learning effect.(4)The effect of seductive details mainly occurs in individuals with low control attention and resistant to individuals with low interference ability.(5)The main reason for the seductive details effect is through attention to interrupt hypothesis and attention transfer hypothesis.
