Research On Chinese Names,Faces And Paired Memory

People's names and faces are the most important information that people identify and mark a person in daily life.In the field of personal name memory,previous studies have mainly discussed the influence of factors other than personal name itself on personal name memory.In the aspect of face memory,researchers pay attention to the factors such as face attraction,face expression,face structure,face peripheral information and so on.In contrast,the study of name-face pairing memory is less.This study classifies names and faces respectively,and discusses the characteristics and rules of Chinese name memory,face memory and name-face matching memory in different categories of human beings.This study included three experiments to investigate the characteristics of different types of person name memory,face memory and name-face paired memory.In experiment one,3(name specificity: common,general,special)× 2(average stroke of name: more,less)× 2(person name structure: double word,three characters)was designed to explore what kind of name is easy to be remembered.The results show that the common names are easier to remember than special names,and the names with fewer strokes are easier to remember than those with fewer strokes.In experiment 2(face attraction: high,low)× 2(face sex: male,female)× 2(face expression: happy,serious),the subjects designed to study which faces were easy to remember.The results show that there is a significant memory preference for highly attractive faces and pleasant expressions are easier to remember than serious ones.The results are basically consistent with previous studies on faces.The third experiment selected the variables that had great influence on the name and face in the first two experiments,and combined them as the experimental variables,and finally formed 2(name characteristics: common,special)× 4(face characteristics: low attractiveness,serious,low attractiveness and pleasure,etc.)The design within the subjects explored how names and faces are the easiest to remember.The results show that highly attractive and serious faces match common names more easily to remember,while highly attractive happy faces are easier to remember when combined with special names.The above results show that the use of cognitive resources is closely related to personal name memory,while face memory is more related to cognitive processing preferences.In the future,the study of person name and face memory can be further refined,so as to further explore the rules of person name,face and their matching memory.
