Translation Strategies Of Names In English Texts Of Agricultural Science And Technology

The translation of foreign names mostly is based on transliteration,but there is not a strict standard.Due to the language environment,social environment and cultural environment,there exists huge differences between Chinese names and foreign names.Therefore,the translation of foreign names is a practical topic.A good translation is beneficial to the research of historical material,especially the study of historical figures.This paper,based on translation experience,discusses the basic strategies of translating English names into Chinese names.And some useful conclusions are drawn:(1)use the Chinese names which have been existed.This part is the key point of this paper,which confirms translation through historical material.(2)find a standardized translation for solving the unified names in historical material,which can make it easier for historical research.This paper mainly focuses on two aspects:1.The textual research of existing names.2.The translation of in-consist names with various transliteration.
