Project Report On Translation Of Historical Material Of Auschwitz Concentration Camp

This paper is a project report on the translation of historical material of Auschwitz concentration camp, which was entrusted by Lijiang Publishing Limited. The target readers are relevant experts and staff who will use the translation as the information of a potential program in Lijiang Publishing Limited. It is a valuable practical experience for students. The translation of historical material, a new translation field for MTI students, belongs to non-literature translation. The text of historical material is an informative text which focuses on the effect of information transmission and reactions of readers.This project report records and analyzes the whole process of the translation including pre-translation stage, translation stage and post-translation stage. It covers the analysis of the source text and details of pre-translation preparation, the translation strategy and style, the quality control, the client’s feedback and so on. The case study which discusses the typical examples of translation is also contained in the report, In case study, the analysis of typical examples is carried out such as the loanwords, terms, camp setting and long sentences based on the analysis of the source text, translation strategy and style. As a result, the translation methods for these cases are summed up with the referential translation.Through the experience of the author, this report discusses problems in the translation process and concludes the translation strategy and translation methods for the historical text. It is hoped that this report can inspire translators who work on the similar project and offer some referential value to the study of translation.
