The research adopts the methods of empirical researches and analyzes the correlation between autonomous reading and English learning efficiency.The research has certain theoretical significance to enrich the research achievements of English education.At the same time,the research can provide theoretical reference for the teachers of English education,benefiting the enhancement of English educational efficiency.Through empirical research,the research uses the questionnaire investigation and teaching experiment method,analyzing the correlation between autonomousreading and English learning efficiency for senior high students,as well as the factors influencing it.According to the results of empirical research,the research leads to the following conclusions:(1)autonomous reading has significant positive correlation with English test score.(2)autonomous reading has significant positive correlation with English learning efficiency.(3)The subjective factors of autonomous reading and English learning efficiency are the students' English learning motivation and their fundamental English knowledge.According to the results of the research,this study comes up with the measures to optimize the senior high school English teaching from the aspects of teachers and students.Firstly,teachers have to build a teaching environment conducive to students' autonomous reading,select reading stuff to stimulate their reading motivation,give appropriate reading guidance,and help them improve their autonomous reading ability.Secondly,students should be allowed to seek English reading materials autonomously so as to strengthen the motivation of English reading,learn to be self-controlled,and improve the overall ability of English learning.
