In the 20 th century,Taiwanese female writer San Mao,who is famous on both sides of the Taiwan Strait,has set off a huge wave in the Chinese and foreign literary circles with his rich and legendary life experience,delicate and gentle style of writing,and simple and natural language.Many researchers have mentioned that the number of biographical writings of San Mao is large but the quality is not high,and few researchers systematically interpret and analyze the problems reflected by the phenomenon of “San Mao Biography”.Taking the phenomenon of “San Mao Biography” as the research object,this paper aims to explore the connotation and performance of the phenomenon,and to reflect on its constituent factors and influences.The full text is mainly divided into three parts:The first chapter is the description of the phenomenon of “San Mao Biography”.Mainly from the concept of “San Mao Fever” to the concept of“San Mao Biography”,the phenomenon of “San Mao Biography” is part of the“San Mao Fever”.The phenomenon of “San Mao Biography” is discussed through the number of publications,the publishing houses,the year of publications,its classification,and so on.Then,the contents of “San Mao Biography” is presented.The characteristics of “San Mao Biography” are the overstatement of San Mao's works and conversations,the lack of research and evidence,and the evaluation and creation of their people.From aspects above,the present author firstly discusses the gains and losses in the biographical writings of San Mao,and then on the basis of its representative biography.From the phenomenon to “San Mao Fever”,the second chapter is on the causes of the phenomenon of “San Mao Biography”.It centers on three main parts: adapting to the trend of the times,the value of San Mao's works and her legendary life,and the role of commercial media and hot news.It aims to explain that the phenomenon of “San Mao Biography” is bound up with three“San Mao Fever”,and that San Mao's biographical attitude and such factors as shaping herself into a star through social activities promote her writing and laterpublishing.The third chapter is the reflection of “San Mao Biography”.With the help of biographical literary theory,communication theory,and acceptance aesthetics,the present author intends to rethink and appraise the phenomenon of “San Mao Biography”.The phenomenon promotes the development of biographical literature,but biographers should reasonably deal with the problems of biographical truth and biographical fiction.From the perspective of communication and reader acceptance,the publishing houses should take the responsibility of strictly checking the biography writings of San Mao.The publications of biography cannot rely entirely on the reader's expectation,and the writers should also actively guide the readers.
