From January to November in 201 8,the author participated in the translation program of the United Nations Department of Global Communications(formerly the Department of Public Information)at the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation of Beijing Foreign Studies University and was selected as program manager.During the program, the author translated 4 articles, proofread 15 articles, and compiled the Standards Guidebook with the other two program managers. This thesis reviews the author's English-Chinese translation practice and the team construction and management during this period, uses"Comprehension,Expression, and Adaptation(CEA)" framework proposed by Li Changshuan to evaluate the translation, analyzes the main problems of translation practice, and formulates solutions to these problems. This thesis falls into four parts. The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the backgrounds, characters and significance of the task. The second chapter describes the main work in the stages of preparation before translation, translation process, and proofreading and quality control. The third chapter introduces the "Comprehension,Expression, and Adaptation'' framework, analyzes the main problems of comprehension, expression and adaptation in the author's translation practice using this framework, and proposes solutions to these problems respectively.Comprehension problems includes the understanding of words such as professional vocabulary and comparatives,as well as ambiguous and complex sentence structures. The expression problems include mismatched words,Europeanized Chinese, ambiguous translation and lack of rhythm.Commonly used adaptation methods include addition and adjustment of word order. The fourth part summarizes the gains and experience of this translation practice, reflects on the shortcomings of the program management from the perspective of a program manager, and puts forward corresponding suggestions for future translation practice and translation program management. The translation of UN documents emphasizes accuracy, readability and consistency.Translators should use critical thinking to investigate professional knowledge, improve the language sensitivity of Chinese and English, pay attention to the understanding of comparatives, and analyze the modifying relationship to resolve sentence structure ambiguity.Translators should use concise language, try to find equivalent Chinese expressions, avoid assumed translation and Europeanized Chinese, pay attention to the standard use of punctuations, and enhance the readability and rhythm of the translation.According to the purpose of translation, translators can take appropriate adaptation strategies of addition and adjustment of the word order,to retain the original meaning. The translation project manager should have teamwork and communication skills,self-motivation,and efficient execution and influence, strengthen the management of team members and project progress, and control the quality of translation.
