A Research On Characteristics And Functions Of The Communist Party Of China's Ideology Political Education From Red Star Over China

Red Star Over China is a field reportage written by the famous American journalist Edgar Snow.Snow went to the Northwest Revolutionary Base of China to interview leaders of the Communist Party of China and soldiers of Red Army from June to October in 1936 and collected a lot of primary data.Whereafter,Snow wrote many reports about Chinese revolution to Britain and American newspapers and then compiled these reports into the book Red Star Over China.During describing the first arriving in north Shaanxi of the CPC and Red Army and situation along the way,Red Star Over China also included CPC's ideology political education to party members and cadres,soldiers and Chinese peasant and CPC's mobilization and unity work and disorganization work to enemies.The description also provides us materials and a new perspective to study CPC's ideology political education in the specific period.Taking Red Star Over China as a carrier,this paper tries to summarize its content about CPC's ideology political education and research characteristics and functions of CPC's ideology political education.It was the eve of the second cooperation between Kuo Min Tang and the Communist Party of China when Snow went to north Shaanxi.So most historical events of this book happened on that time.Besides,interviews in this book includes both current political situation and old memories.Some historical events in this book lasted long,which could even date back to 1927.Content about CPC's ideology political education lasts from 1927 to 1936.During the ten years,CPC underwent campaigns against "encirclement and suppression",the Long March and promoting Chinese united front against Japanese aggression,in which CPC also carried out ideological and political work to her party members,peasant and Non-party personages and enemies.In this process,CPC permeated ideological and political work into daily work and social life to enlighten peasant's class consciousness and arouse their enthusiasm of anti-Japanese and revolution by dramas,slogans and songs.CPC's ideology political education guaranteed that CPC could control Red Army,which guided Red Army to support China's revolution strongly.CPC's ideology political education's more important role was that it could produce great mobilizing power.CPC's ideology political education successfully produced a new discourse system among Chinese peasant and educated them into a kind of force that conformed Chinese revolution to organize them to support or join the revolution.CPC's ideology political education was smart and its object was very extensive,which helped CPC win a powerful social support and establish a cross-class alliance and Chinese united front against Japanese aggression to expand anti-Japanese strength.The agrarian revolution that was a kind material motivation helped Chinese peasant to acquire land,which was a key reason that peasant supported CPC.However,recent researches show that except material motivation,spiritual motivation also played a unique role and especially CPC's emotional mobilization to Chinese peasant provides a new perspective to review Chinese revolution.Snow described CPC's concrete situation of ideology political education vividly.Though Snow stayed in north Shaanxi less than half a year,CPC's and Red army's upward outlook left a deep impression on Snow.He even predicted that it was CPC that would win the revolution eventually.There was no doubt that Snow's prediction was true.The contrast between CPC's righteous anti-imperialism and feudalism movement and KMT's positive anti-communist but negative anti-Japanese policy moved Snow.CPC's effective ideology political education that changed with the times and excellent organization and mobilization mechanism also surprised Snow.Snow's attitude to Chinese revolution changed from neutral to sympathetic eventually.
