In recent years, the Japanese Right-Wing Forces have stubbornly denied the existence of The Japanese War of Aggression against China and The Nanjing Massacre. It is therefore of critical importance for us to provide ironclad evidence to prove the authenticity of the history and refute the baseless statement of the Japanese Right-Wing Forces. The wartime diaries of the Japanese soldiers who participated in the war and testimony of the Chinese survivors have turned out to be the most convincing evidences.Meanwhile, the archival materials compiled by westerners have shed light on the monstrous crimes of the invading Japanese army from the third party perspective for the study on the history about the Nanjing Massacre. The translation of the English archival materials about the Nanjing Massacre will be of great importance for the exposure of the truth about the Nanjing Massacre and the retort of the Japanese right wing forces' denial of the Japanese invasion of China during World War ?.The thesis is written on the basis of the archival materials on the Nanjing Massacre by elaborating on the use of back translation in the course of the translation so as to render the translated version authentic in history and idiomatic in text.In this sense, the author is meant to retort the Japanese right wing forces' denial of the Japanese invasion of China and the Nanjing Massacre. The author suggests that the use of back translation is of critical importance in the English-Chinese translation of China-related historical materials through the proper treatment of the proper names such as the names of people and places as well as historical keywords. In the course of writing this thesis, the author employed the reference skills such as consulting historical archives and searching the Internet before validating the authenticity and veracity of the translated versions by referring to scholarly literature.
