This report is based on the translation of the news reports on China's assistance in the fight against Ebola virus in Africa taken from the website of Allafrica.com.Aiming at solving the problems encountered in the process of translation, the thesis focused on the translation of the authors' evaluative language resources in news texts.Due to the requirement for objectivity in the news, the author's personal evaluation or standpoint is seldom seen in the text. However, even if there is little vocabulary expressing the news writer's attitude in the reports, the author's standpoint on the event will be shown through the overall sentence structures, thus showing the author's standpoint. Therefore, after translating the source texts, the writer of this paper classified the evaluative sentences into positive evaluative sentences and negative evaluative sentences and after analysis, further improved their translation on this basis. In the process of translation, the writer finds that although the author evaluates and expresses his position mostly at the sentence level, the vocabulary in the sentence is still the "finishing touch" to show his standpoint. Therefore, based on the framework of evaluation theory, the writer adopts appropriate translation strategies, methods and techniques to deal with the attitudinal resources(especially vocabulary)and translated the original text to the greatest extent. It is hoped that this work can also throw some light on the translation of stance-taking news reports and enhance the translator's understanding of evaluative sentences in source and target texts.
