This translation report is based on four chapters from The Road to Little Dribbling written by Bill Bryson,which mainly describes the author's journey to unknown places in Britain.Understanding the meanings of different sentences requires the combination of various contexts,and the translator should consider specific contexts to get the best translation.This report analyzes a variety of contexts,including linguistic context and paralinguistic context mainly.In the aspect of linguistic context,the report mainly analyzes the solution to intra-sentence context and inter-sentence context while in the aspect of paralinguistic context,it mainly analyzes the solution to by-communication context and scene context.By means of translation skills mainly including amplification and free translation,the translator tries to translate clearly and coherently to achieve communicative purposes.The translation practice offers a chance for the translator to better understand travel text as well as to improve translation skills and enhance professional accomplishment,which can lay a solid foundation for the later translation practice.It is hoped that this translation report would provide some references for the travel text translators. |
