The English assignments of junior middle school play an important role in the process of English teaching.But there are many problems when the teachers arrange the assignments.And it has a negative effect on the quality of English teaching and the comprehensive development of junior middle school studentsThe study takes junior middle school English assignments as the research object,conducts a field survey on junior middle school students' English assignment through self-compiled questionnaires,and uses SPSS software to analyze teachers' and students' questionnaires,and a lot of problems are found during the investigation.In the aspect of the quantity and difficulty of the assignments,the junior high school English assignments are large and numerous but easy to finish.In the aspect of the assignment structure,it is unbalanced for the reason that the teachers assign more mechanical English assignments but less practical English homework.In the aspect of assignment contents,it is not conducive to the cultivation of students' innovation ability.In the aspect of finishing the assignments,two major problems are found,respectively,bad study habits and the influence of the study atmosphere.In the aspect of appraisal,it is single and lacks feedback.In the aspect of the matching degree between assignments and teaching objectives,most teachers and students have misconceptions about junior high school English assignments,which is still in the “exam-oriented” stage,and the matching degree is very low.In the aspect of the development and utilization of assignment resources,the assignments that we really need are scarce.Based on the problems above,the author comes up with seven strategies,respectively,controlling the quantity and difficulty of English assignments reasonably,implementing the project-oriented assignment,assigning the drama writing task,cultivating good study habits,using electronic portfolio to evaluate the assignments,assigning developmental assignments and creating the corpus of English assignments.The author hopes to help the students lessen their burdens,stimulate their interests and improve their English ability.
