As a key component in language output,English writing certainly takes up a great proportion in the College Entrance Examination.It tests the senior high students’ integrated ability of using what they learn in grammar to make a sentence,thus composing a passage,on the basis of the given guideline.However,it is a great challenge for most of them,who will get low marks or even give up this session in each examination.The reasons for that fact are various.In this paper,the author tries to explore some of the reasons from the view of Language Transference,thus to make out the impact of Language Transference on English writing in Senior High School.In this empirical study,whose subjects are the senior high school students from ZhaoZhou County,the author collects,concludes and sorts the correct expressions and mistakes in their compositions.On the basis of former study of Language Transference,the personal experience in English teaching,and the physical truth of our school,the author aims to work out some pedagogical implications in teaching and learning writing in senior high school.The study indicates: firstly,the students can make Positive Language Transference in the five simple sentence patterns.Secondly,they tend to make Negative Language Transference in vocabulary,sentence usages,and discourse.Furthermore,some of them will make mistakes in punctuation and word spelling.Hope to help people to make better use of Positive Language Transference and to avoid the influence of Negative Language Transference,promoting English study by learning the advantages and existing problems in English writing.Meanwhile,it helps to throw light on normal teaching,where the teachers should put writing practice into daily language teaching,permeate English culture properly,or even compare the different cultures to make the students impressed and make mistakes in Negative Language Transference as few as possible.The study also provides some living examples of writing in senior high school.Hope they can serve as the reference for further study on some relevant subjects.
