A Report On The Translation Of Youth Soccer Coaches Training Manual

In recent years,China has begun to pay full attention to the development of the soccer industry.The progress of youth soccer players’ training system determines the development of the national soccer industry.To change the status quo of that in China,the two primary tasks,which are to improve the overall quality of youth soccer coaches through training lessons,and to introduce the global advanced training concepts and systems,lead into the growing demands for English-Chinese translation of soccer-related texts.As a result,the theoretical role of the manual in the training session can hardly be ignored.This translation practice report is based on the English to Chinese translation practice of the Youth Soccer Coaches Training Manual.It covers the player-centered training methods and training concepts,and the ways how to work out the specific training procedures based on the characteristics of young players,etc..This translation practice report is divided into four parts.The first part involves background and description of the task,the text analysis and the task requirements.The second part gives a brief introduction of the translation process from three aspects: pre-translation preparation,translation implementation,and proofreading.The third part,the main part of the report,first introduces communicative translation and semantic translation,and then,under the guidance of the theory,carries out cases analysis from the perspectives of vocabulary and sentence.The fourth part is the summary of the task from two aspect: the experience and inspiration the author obtained,as well as the author’s understanding of the deficiencies and reflections after the translation task.This translation practice is guided by Newmark’s communicative translation and semantic translation.The report aims at presenting the process of finding and solving translation problems under the theory.In the light of the informative function of the soccer training manual,the translation process is dominated by communicative translation,and,if necessary,supplemented by semantic translation,so that the contents of the source text are translated fully and precisely.At present,there are few studies on the translation of soccer training manuals,so it is expected that the report may serve as reference and guidance for the translation of soccer training text.
