The Study Of Satou Issai's Temperament Theory In Commentary Of Mencius

Satou Issai's " Commentary of Mencius " is a note he made during his study of Mencius.It is rich in content and involves many scholars' research,while few studies have touched on this topic in China.To study the " Commentary of Mencius ",sorting out the specific content,finding and organizing relevant documents,on one hand,could provide research materials for academia;On the other hand,it would also help to understand the academic characteristics of Satou Issai and even the Japanese Confucian scholars at that time.This thesis compares the study of Mencius,the Four-Book Collection and the Commentary of Mencius,and finds relevant materials by analyzing the literature to summarize Satou Issai 's understanding of Mencius' thoughts.Meanwhile,this thesis studies his views on Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming's thoughts,thus summarizes Satou's own academic thoughts and characteristics.In the " Commentary of Mencius",the content of temperament theory is rich,which is an important part of this book.This thesis takes temperament theory as a main part,and combines it with the interpretation method used by Satou Issai in the full text of "Commentary of Mencius".In addition,this research compares its main ideas with the study of Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming,and even the Sino-Japanese and Korean scholars at the same time,so as to study its academic position and thoughts value.This thesis finds out that Satou Issai had his own unique views and academic system on temperament theory.It integrated the study of Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming,and expressed his own opinions,which reflected the thoughts tendency of middle course.Satou Issai 's study consistently emphasized the essence of objects,while his interpretation method is in line with the interpretation method of the whole East Asia.Satou Issai attached great importance to practice,his thoughts promoted the social thoughts at that time,and his followers also contributed to the Meiji Restoration Movement.
