Imagination:As An Action Of Understanding

The essential difference between Kant's concept of Imagination and the concept of Imagination in the usual sense is that the "absent object" that it expresses in its intuition is an intuitive multiplicity with respect to the "unity" of representation.The Synthesis of Imagination and intuitive heterogeneity is the fundamental premise for the formation of all unified representations.This broadness of the role of Imagination makes it an essential component of all knowledge.This kind of epistemological concept of Imagination is produced by Kant in solving a key problem of his system,that is,how the combination of perceptual intuition and intellectuality is possible.This is the task of the Transcendental deduction of Category.The different interpretations of the two editions restrict the positioning of the role of Imagination.The key to this is the difference in scope between the two editions of the deduction of Category.Since the analysis of the triple synthesis of the A version is limited to the empirical field,the end point of the analysis is only the Understanding as a form basis,and the synthesis of the Understanding involving the entire rational range cannot be introduced here.The synthesis of Imagination belongs to this comprehensive intellectual action in the universal sense.This intellectual action is implemented in our sensible and comprehensive name in our perceptual and intuitive,and in the name of rational synthesis.Therefore,before this synthesis is introduced,the Imagination may still be the third cognitive ability alongside sensibility and intellectuality,and this situation will be a fundamental negation of Kant's dichotomy of knowledge sources.The introduction of the comprehensive meaning in the general interpretation of the B version of the interpretation eliminates this possibility.The synthesis of Imagination as a comprehensive action synonymous in the field of experience belongs to the action of intellectuality and thus belongs to the intellectual itself.As a result,Imagination as a kind of "internal intermediary" that is intellectual,communicates the category of perceptual intuition and intellectuality.The transcendental synthesis of Imagination itself contains the mechanism of this communication.Although the transcendental synthesis of Imagination is based on the form of unity,the appearance of category as unity is not reflected in this synthesis.The application of this kind of reflection to the category is the action of intellectual judgment.The transcendental synthesis of Imagination precedes this reflection and provides the basis for judgment.And the relationship between "Synthesis" and "Judgment" can be fundamentally explained by Kant's distinction between "synthetic unity" and "analytical unity" of apperception.
