With the prosperity of Buddhism,the cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries were frequent in the Southern and Northern dynasties,and a large number of exotic sacred trees appeared.The images of the sacred trees entered the flourishing stage and became important subjects of Buddhism in the carrier of grottoes,murals,gold and bronze Buddhas,statues,tombs,pagodas and so on.By combing the images of sacred trees in the early Buddhist relics of China,we can clearly see that the sacred trees in different areas have different ways of expression in different carriers,and have strong regional characteristics.Indian-style sacred trees and Zhongyuan-style sacred trees coexist.As a result,the whole sacred tree image presents a "harmonious but different" face.The cultural interaction between countries and regions makes the evolution of sacred trees tend to be Chinese.Therefore,the images of early Buddhist sacred trees in China have unique artistic facets.Appearance,gradually forms the form diversification,the carrier localization,the subject matter richness,the meaning extensive,the function adornment artistic style.The style of Sinicization is the result of the interaction between the images of sacred trees in India's early stage,Gandhara carving art,Chinese native sacred tree culture,modeling and other factors,and the multi-culture further promotes the Sinicization of sacred tree images.In the Sui and Tang dynasties and after the image of sacred trees continue to evolve,the sacred color gradually fade.In short,the early Buddhist fine arts of China selectively retained and absorbed some foreign sacred tree culture and forms,combined with the native sacred tree culture of the Central Plains,established an independent and mature native sacred tree system.
