Report On The Translation Of Emerging Infectious Disease: A Guide To Diseases,Causative Agents,and Surveillance(Excerpts)

Nowadays,there are more interactions between China and the outside world in medical science.Thus the demand for translating medical texts is quite strong.Medical translation from English to Chinese contributes to the introduction of advanced medical ideas and technologies from abroad,driving the medical development.But medical translation has certain difficulty,because medical texts feature complex sentences and numerous terms.The translator chooses the second and third chapter of Emerging infectious disease: A Guide to Diseases,Causative agents,and Surveillance,which introduce basic concepts of infectious diseases and elaborate on Lyme disease.The report is divided into four parts,namely task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.The first part analyzes the source and content of the chosen medical material and the target reader.The second part focuses on the whole translation practice,including pre-translation preparations,the translation process and post-translation revision.In case analysis part,translation techniques are elaborated on from lexical,syntactical and textual levels respectively.Finally,the conclusion is drawn which includes the experience and lessons drawn from this practice.Through this translation,the translator expects to provide reference to future medical translation,driving its further development.
