A Comparative Study Of English Translation Of Treatise On Febrile Diseases From The Perspective Of Translation Skopos Theory

In recent years,English translation study of traditional Chinese medical ancient classics has been a hot issue that the scholars at home and abroad pay attention to.As we all know,traditional Chinese medical ancient classics translation plays an significant role in the spread of traditional Chinese medicine and the medical and cultural communication all over the world.However,so far,the selection range of traditional Chinese medical ancient classics as the research material are very limited.The research target that the scholars have mainly chosen has focused on Huangdi Neijing while the study about English translation of Shanghan Lun is still in a preliminary stage.This dissertation has regarded Shanghan Lun and its English versions as the research target and comprehensively adopted multiple research methods including literature research method,interdisciplinary research method,descriptive research method and method of comparative analysis.First of all,it introduces the research background,the research significance and the research methods.Next,it has reviewed the development and the main concepts of Skopostheorie and the English versions of Shanghan Lun.In the body part,it has made a comparative study from the three perspectives of the translation skopos,text type and traditional Chinese medical terms translation under the guidance of Skopostheorie in order to find out what strategies are best for the translation of traditional Chinese medical terms.In conclusion,the dissertation has analyzed the guidance and limitations of Skopostheorie for English translation of Shanghan Lun,summarized the deficiency of this dissertation and put forward the promising research issue.
