The Restatement Of Mythology In The New Century

As one of the four ancient Chinese folklores,the legend of the White Snake has been repeated by literati and creators since the beginning of the story.A large number of restatements have made the White Snake's biography endure for thousands of years.Not only is the content of the story deeply rooted in national culture,but also the characters vividly remain in people's memory.In this paper,six literary works about the biography of White Snake in the new century are taken as the research objects,and the repetition of the biography of White Snake is investigated from the aspects of theme type,character image and narrative strategy.The unique value of the repetition is explored in depth,which can provide a reference for the development of the repetition of the biography of White Snake in the future.The thesis is divided into five parts: The first part combs the finalization of the biography of White Snake and the restatement of the biography of White Snake with time as the vertical axis.The second part illustrates the multiple themes of the reiteration of White Snake Biography in the new century: the rebuilding of firm ideas,the dilemma of identity and the concept of love and marriage at first sight.The third part analyses the images of the four main characters in the restatement of White Snake Biography of the New Century: White Lady,Xiaoqing,Xuxian and Fahai.By comparing with the previous texts,it aims to discover the unique features of the new century.The fourth part explores the narrative strategies of White Snake's restatement works in the new century,and finds that the creator has obvious "intertextuality" writing and defamiliarization narrative strategies.The fifth part explores the cultural context behind the representations of White Snake Biography in the new century.
