In the study of urban expression, the study of "imagination" has become a very important paradigm. The invisible city formed by the text gives an imaginative reality to the objective city.Nanjing, the ancient capital that grew up in the gap of history, has been endowed with its literary imagination by many writers from ancient times to modern times.Nanjing in these texts, together with Nanjing in reality, has constructed Nanjing's multiple postures and spiritual outlook.Ge Liang,a new generation of Nanjing writers,is a leading figure of the "post-70s" Chinese writers in Taiwan,Hong Kong and Macao. In the perspective of globalization, their creation not only enriches the spiritual resources of contemporary literature, but also broadens the aesthetic horizons of contemporary writers, and promotes the continuous integration of Chinese literature into world literature, which is a new force worthy of attention.Ge Liang's writing not only continues the old spirit of Nanjing, but also breaks through the original imaginary paradigm with the perspective of cultural transboundary, injecting new blood into "Literary Nanjing".This paper focuses on Ge Liang's spiritual home of "Nanjing" from the perspective of cross-cultural city imagination, and ponders how Ge Liang constructed Nanjing City under the two great voices of tradition and modernity, and how "Literary Nanjing" was imagined and reconstructed. On the one hand,it intends to dig out the spiritual contradiction between the traditional spirit of Nanjing "city and people" in the process of urbanization,on the other hand,it uses Ge Liang's cross-cultural perspective to explore how to integrate multi-culture and traditional context.Ge Liang's rich experience and broad horizon brought about by his multiple cultural identities make his writing characteristics, which are based on the traditional Chinese context and mixed with multi-cultural experience, form the aesthetic style of the convergence of East and West. His writing of Nanjing in a foreign country is an Eastern imagination in a heterogeneous cultural space, constituting the intersection and coincidence of time and space, which not only enlarges the narrative space, but also deepens the theme implication. As a "new generation of Nanjing writers",this is the innovation and practice of traditional Nanjing city imagination. It also provides more abundant possibilities for the younger generation to imagine and write about China in the cross-cultural context. The citation part elaborates the origin and research value of this topic, and defines the concepts of "urban imagination".And comb out the writer Ge Liang's background, cultural identity, research history and current situation of the topic, pointing out the direction for the writing of the paper. The first part focuses on the origin of Ge Liang's imagination in Nanjing.Ge Liang's multi-city experience in both sides of the Straits has brought him rich cultural horizons.Ge Liang's attention to the theme and cultural identity of overseas Chinese writers in academic field and his construction of personal experience and subjective spirit in urban literature research have made him consciously turn his eyes to "home city" Nanjing. In the blending of multiple cultures,Nanjing presents a complex spiritual outlook. The second part, starting from the internal narrative dimension of modern fiction, explores how Nanjing was constructed by Ge Liang in the text.Time and space are not only the basic dimensions of human existence, but also the two basic levels of novel narration. In Ge Liang's works, time, space and spirit jointly construct the imagination of Nanjing.Through these three reconstruction structures,Ge Liang presents his Nanjing City imagination to readers accurately. The third part focuses on Ge Liang's imagination of people and cities in Nanjing by using the "mirror image" theory. The spirit and destiny of human beings can be found in the history and reality of the city, and the development of the city provides a new environment for the change and development of human beings. The temperament of the city given by history and reality can also be unconsciously projected on people, making "human nature" and "urban nature" mirror each other.Ge Liang portrays all kinds of "people" in his novel. They are either born in Nanjing or foreign visitors to the city, but they are somewhat infected with the cultural character of the city and show their unique Nanjing spirit. The writer imagines "human nature" through "city nature",and in turn imagines the character of the city. This perspective of "the other" greatly enriches the connotation of the city, and also makes a cultural reflection on "how contemporary people should imagine the city".The fourth part focuses on the far-reaching significance of Ge Liang's urban imagination in Nanjing. How does "Literary Nanjing" surpass "realistic Nanjing" and how does Ge Liang's "Nanjing Imagination" contribute to the imagination of China by overseas Chinese? The literary imagination of a city is not only the reconstruction of history, but also the expectation of the future, the excavation of the current urban life, and the solution to the current urban symptoms. The writing of overseas Chinese writers after the 70 s is a new cultural style with Chinese experience and mixed with other cultural concepts.Ge Liang,as a leading figure, imagines Nanjing as a "home city" in his way of imagining China. The integration of classical tradition and modern techniques, the integration of history into daily imagination, and the attention to thelittle people in the "alienated" narrative state all provide a blueprint for overseas Chinese to imagine China. The conclusion is a summary of the full text, summarizing the reasons why Ge Liang imagined Nanjing, how to imagine Nanjing and the contribution and significance of Nanjing imagination. What are the horizontal and vertical deficiencies and progress in Ge Liang's urban imagination research.
