A Study On The Application Of Narrative Techniques In Anthony Brown's Children's Illustration

As a special art form,the narrative illustration plays the role of graphic and text,which is to use the form of painting to make a certain interpretation of the text,and successfully combine th e advantages of two artistic forms of painting and literature.The narrative illustration has the fun ction of image narrative,not only to show the situation described by a certain paragraph of text,but to explore the deep meaning contained in the lines of the word through the picture.In the art of children's picture book illustration,visual narrative is at the core,it involves the interpretation and expansion of the text provided.Because vision is the most distinctive function of children's il lustration art,not only through visual editing techniques,narrative order,tone,atmosphere,Char acters such as character description and rhythm are promoted,and the illustrator will also subtly l ook at things from different perspectives,using thought-provoking images to attract attention,thi nk,enhance the intrinsic meaning of the illustration,and introduce narrative thoughts and rhythm s in the script.,action,drama,emotions and atmosphere,in order to express the views of the illu strator on the event,the pursuit of culture,the orientation of children's values,and the creation of children's psychology and children's acceptance.Narrative illustration art and not only become a very popular form carrier for today's book s ales,but also called the picture book that many children's readers eagerly collect,called the impo rtant expression of children's illustration art.This article takes Anthony Brown's illustration as an example to study the artistic characteristics of narrative illustrations.From the first part of the te xt,I learned about Anthony Brown's artistic experience and artistic achievements.He is one of th e few children's illustrators in the UK like“National Treasure”;the second part is about Anthony Brown's painting techniques,all his illustrations.They use watercolor paintings to create an inte resting and vivid illustration through the combination of dry and wet watercolors and white techn iques.The third part is to interpret Anthony Brown's full of fantasy and mystery.Li Te's works ar e compared and analyzed to find out the similarities between the two masters' expressions,and fu rther grasp the significance of surrealistic image symbols and visual metaphors.On this basis,fro m the aspects of narrative structure,elements,painting language and so on,this paper analyzes A nthony Brown's narrative painting language features and development trends,and expounds the v alue of narrative illustration.
