An Analysis Of The Reference And Integration Of Woodcut Illustration "The Bond" To The Space And Image Narrative Of Ancient Chinese Painting

How to transform time and space into visual expressions has always been an important topic in artistic creation,for which the ancient Chinese scroll paintings and book illustrations provide a way of eye touring style composition.By connecting multiple time and space horizontally in the same scrolling picture,the viewer's viewpoint is constantly moving along with the change of the picture,so that people have the wonderful illusion of observing the change of time and space from the perspective of the artist.Many ancient Chinese paintings that have adopted the eye touring style composition were analyzed and researched.Space and image narrative methods among them were taken as example,and integrated into my own print creation.Visually,the work connects different regions with visual spatial relationships,achieving a time leap.On the format,the combine of the characteristics of "long scroll" and "folding" was chosen,which can not only ensure that the work is presented in the composition of the banner scroll,but also can help the reader's viewpoint to follow page by page.This article focuses on actual works.It is not only a theoretical research based on the works,but also an analysis and interpretation of the works.The significance of this topic as well as the research status at home and abroad through literature review were elaborated firstly.Followed by analysis and studies of ancient Chinese paintings from two aspects of space language and image narrative language.After that,a number of ancient Chinese paintings were taken as examples,through which space narrative language,image narrative language,technique,picture rhythm,black-and-white relationships were described from five different perspectives to explain how the works draw lessons from ancient Chinese paintings.Finally,conclusions and enlightenments were drawn.This creation integrates the traditional space and image narrative language into contemporary themes,making it a bond between the past and the present.This is not only the inheritance of ancient painting language,but also the exploration and experiment of modern painting language.While inheriting the excellent cultural tradition,it also expands new visual language.
