The Study On Laughter-eliciting Sentences In Home With Kids(season1)

Humor is a special way of expressing emotion,and verbal humor is a form of language that expresses humor.As one of the language art expressions that convey humor,sitcom is deeply loved by the masses.China's sitcoms named Home with Kids gained a lot of ratings when it was broadcast in 2004.The language of the play is humorous,but it also shows the personality characteristics and strong carefulness of benignity.This article takes the Chinese family sitcom Home with Kids as the research object,and marks the 2974 laughter-eliciting sentences contained in it,and analyzes the feature of sentence category,the character of rhetoric and the pragmatic principles of the laughter-eliciting sentences.Exploring the humor mechanism of the laughter-eliciting sentences from multiple angles not only enriches research status of verbal humor in domestic,but also has certain reference significance for the creation of other comedy works in China.Create the semiotic system of corpus tagging can help the computer recognize humorous sentences,and this will help further processing of humorous calculations such as natural language understanding.This article is divided into five chapters,the main contents of each chapter are as follows.The first chapter is introduction.It introduces the topic basis,research value,research object,the source of corpus,research status of verbal humor at home and abroad,research methods and the innovations of this article.The second chapter marks the laughter-eliciting sentences in Home with Kids(Season1)and establishes a corpus of verbal humor and creates a symbolic system for the labeled corpus.Then mark the laughter-eliciting sentences,the sentence-category them,the range of laughter-eliciting sentences administer,the rhetoric they used and the situation that breaks the pragmatic principles in the raw corpus.After that,perform statistics on the annotation results.The content of the third chapter is on the basis of the result of the statistical data and analyzes the laughter-eliciting sentences from multiple angles.First of all,classify the sentences according to the tone of the voice,namely,declarative sentences,interrogative sentence,imperative sentence and exclamatory sentence and analyze the pattern of manifestation of the laughter-eliciting sentences.Secondly,analyze the rhetoric contained in the laughter-eliciting sentences and put emphasis on the usage of eight rhetoric,such as rhetorical question,metaphor,hyperbole,parallelism,personification,periphrasis and parody.Finally,analyze the condition of breaking the Cooperative Principle and the Politeness Principle of the laughter-eliciting sentences from the perspective of pragmatics.Explore the function of sentence category,rhetoric and pragmatic principles in the expression of humor.The fourth chapter carries out the part-of-speech tagging and word frequency statistics on all the laughter-eliciting sentences in Home with Kids and compares the statistical results with the word frequency table of CCL corpus and analyzes the characteristics of the laughter-eliciting sentences and summarizes its linguistic features.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which mainly introduces the results of the research and the problems to be solved.This article attempts to make a deeper analysis for the laughter-eliciting sentences in Home with Kids from the dimension of sentence category,rhetoric and pragmatic principles.According to the results of data statistics,it is found that 50.6% of the laughter-eliciting sentences use the rhetoric,but in the non-laughter-eliciting sentences there are only 3.7% sentences use the rhetoric.It can be seen that the use of rhetoric contributes to the expression of humorous effects.The protagonist always break the Cooperative Principle when they chat.There are 513 laughter-eliciting sentences violate the quality principle of the Cooperative Principle.They often create a joke and transmit the humor by deliberately saying something that it is not true or lacks sufficient evidence.It can be seen that don't observe the pragmatic principles when they chat not only does it not impede the communication,but also enhances the effect of language expression humor.In addition,analyzing the linguistic features of the laughter-eliciting sentences can help the audience to know and understand the humorous style of the sitcom-like screen works in essence.
