This paper discusses Deng Shi's historical thoughts from the aspects of a"sublate"attitude to the traditional Chinese"Old History",exploring the"New History"and reflecting on the traditional feudalism.Influenced by the drastic changes in Chinese society at the end of the 19th century,Deng Shi and other scholars of the late Qing Dynasty began to rethink Chinese traditional culture and national destiny.Under the influence of modern western sociology,Deng Shi advocated the view of evolutionary history and the concept of"group(?)".On the one hand,it refuted China's"no history(??)"theory and affirmed the value of the old history. On the other hand,he hoped to integrate Chinese and western learnings and regain the importance of historiography. Therefore,Deng Shi responded to"the New History"actively, called for a"Revolution in History",and put forward the idea of compiling a"Civilian History".In terms of historical data,Deng Shi agreed with the view that"six classics are history(????)"and advocated expanding the scope of traditional historical materials.Based on the current situation of China at that time,Deng Shi also rediscussed the arguments between feudalism and counties,so as to oppose excessive centralization and achieve his ideal of"saving the country by learning(????)".
